Day 1
Upon arrival at Durban International Airport you will be transferred to the Umhlanga Sands Hotel in the resort town of Umhlanga rocks. Known as the French Riviera of the KwaZulu/Natal coast and known as the place to have fun.
Enjoy uninterrupted views of the Indian Ocean . As you can see in the picture below, your hotel is stones throw from the beach. This coast line is renowned for it's abundance of Bottlenose Dolphins. If you wish, you may spend the rest of the day recovering from your flight with a leisure stroll along the beach or relaxing with a drink in one of the many bars, cafes or restaurants.
South Africa is renowned for it's prestigous golf courses found throughout the province. As well as having excellent facilities, fairways and greens, the climate is perfect for those long, relaxing days spent on the courses. Browse the golf courses to which Holiday Time shall take you. If you are also looking for other activities, such as shopping, dining and other entertainment, Holiday Time can make the arrangements to customise your tour.
Day 2
A round of golf at the Mount Edgecombe Country Club. Designed to U.S.G.A. specifications it is the only course in the country planted with Royal Blue grass from tee to green. The undulating nature of the course provides a challenging, but fair test of golf, where a serious golfer can test his skills and an occasional golfer can thoroughly enjoy the game.
Day 3
A round of golf at the scenic Zimbali Country Club. It features magnificent vistas of the Indian Ocean and is set amongst lakes and wetlands on the Natal Coast . Guests can enjoy high tea in the colonial lounge, served by butlers, and the elevated bar overlooking the 14th fairway is ideal for sundowners and delicious light meals in the balmy sub-tropical air. The Zimbali Forest Estate is nature's own wilderness and home to a wide variety wild life.
Day 4
Golf at the Durban Country Club. No other golf club has hosted the South African Open and other important tournaments as often as Durban Country Club. Many of the holes are positively stunning. The short 12th hole has a steeply raised green and is today called the Prince of Wales hole. The Prince who played here in 1924 needed 17 strokes to complete the hole!
Day 5
Golf at Beachwood Country Club . Having recently being upgraded, it is noted particularly for it's narrow, long, straight fairways and many bunkers, lots of trees and bushes severe slopes and in particular that the front nine includes the 10th hole before halfway facilities are reached.
This course provides a very good challenge to the handicap, as the fairways are narrow and long, and require precision tee-shots and lay-ups.
Day 6
Golf at Princess Grant. The course is situated on the north coast of Kwazulu-Natal, 75 km north of Durban's city center. Fashioned out of the indigenous coastal bush; with its dunes, humps and hollows the course has many characteristics of a typical British style links course. The course is well groomed and picturesque with many of the holes offering spectacular views of the rolling coastline. The par five 15th hole runs parallel with the coastline resulting in sublime views of the coastline all the way down to Umhlanga. The bunkers and thick bush on many of the holes require the golfer to play exacting tee shots. The clubhouse and lodge are rare examples of authentic colonial architecture and the 19th hole, Mulligan's bar with its panoramic views is the ideal place to enjoy your after round refreshments.
