If you wish, you may spend the rest of the day recovering from your flight with a leisure stroll along the beach or relaxing with a drink in one of the many bars, cafes or restaurants.
South Africa is renowned for it's prestigous golf courses found throughout the province. As well as having excellent facilities, fairways and greens, the climate is perfect for those long, relaxing days spent on the courses. Browse the golf courses to which Holiday Time shall take you. Day 2
A round of golf at the Mount Edgecombe Country Club. Designed to U.S.G.A. specifications it is the only course in the country planted with Royal Blue grass from tee to green. The undulating nature of the course provides a challenging, but fair test of golf, where a serious golfer can test his skills and an occasional golfer can thoroughly enjoy the game.
Day 3
A round of golf at the scenic Zimbali Country Club. It features magnificent vistas of the Indian Ocean and is set amongst lakes and wetlands on the Natal Coast . Guests can enjoy high tea in the colonial lounge, served by butlers, and the elevated bar overlooking the 14th fairway is ideal for sundowners and delicious light meals in the balmy sub-tropical air. The Zimbali Forest Estate is nature's own wilderness and home to a wide variety wild life.
Day 4
Golf at the Durban Country Club. No other golf club has hosted the South African Open and other important tournaments as often as Durban Country Club. Many of the holes are positively stunning. The short 12th hole has a steeply raised green and is today called the Prince of Wales hole. The Prince who played here in 1924 needed 17 strokes to complete the hole!
Day 5
You will be driven to one of the worlds finest game parks - Hluhluwe Umfolozi Park . Set in the heart of Zululand , the oldest game reserve in Africa where Zulu kings such as Dingiswayo and Shaka hunted and put in place the first conservation laws, where today the "big five" of African legend stalk the verdant savannah.
Established in 1895 game viewing is the prime attraction. Viewing hides overlook pans and waterholes enabling visitors to see animals at close range. You will enjoy African cuisine, day and night drives.
Day 6
After breakfast you will be in for a boat trip on the HluHluwe River and get the chance to see Hippo, Crocodile and plenty of exotic bird life. A highly recommended and truly unforgettable experience. We will then spend a day on safari before Returning to our home base in Umhlanga Rocks.
Day 7
Golf at Beachwood Country Club . Having recently being upgraded, it is noted particularly for it's narrow, long, straight fairways and many bunkers, lots of trees and bushes severe slopes and in particular that the front nine includes the 10th hole before halfway facilities are reached.
This course provides a very good challenge to the handicap, as the fairways are narrow and long, and require precision tee-shots and lay-ups.
Day 8
We shall undertake a scenic 2 hour drive down picturesque South Coast and enjoy a round of golf at the San Lameer Country Club. Designed by Peter Matkovitch, San Lameer is rated among the top ten courses in South Africa and lies on a large nature conservation area comprising of 163 hectares of indigenous beauty.
The par three 4th is not unlike the 12th at Augusta , played across water into a narrow green. The 9th, also a par three, is played from an elevated tee to a green almost completely surrounded by water some 200 meters away. From the 9th almost all the way through to the 18th, water comes into play on every hole. We will stay the evening at one of South Africa 's most exclusive resorts, namely the Wild Coast Sun.
Day 9
Golf at the Wild Coast Sun. The Wild Coast Sun course has established itself as one of South Africa 's best and is ranked in the top 10 in South Africa by Complete Golfer Magazine and Golf Digest. Cut through ravines and across waterfalls, the Wild Coast Sun Country Club course presents an exciting and worthwhile golfing challenge, at the same time allowing one to experience truly spectacular views of the sea and the undulating countryside. While the course has many memorable holes, the 12th is probably the most breathtaking hole in Africa .
This par five is played from an elevated tee down to a fairway which cuts through the valley and then rises again to an elevated green. It is thrilling to watch your ball plummet down to the fairway from the tee, as you flirt with the water guarding the left side of the fairway.
