14 Day Cape Town / Garden Route /KZN tour

Welcome to the Western Cape . Rich in history, with endless coastal and mountain scenery along with spectacular West Coast flowers which can be seen in spring are some of the attractions which make the Western Cape arguably the most beautiful place on earth. You will enjoy the great wines and delicious cuisine of the Cape wine routes. Sip sundowners atop Table Mountain which will be reached via cable car. Table Mountain with its magnificent view is truly breathtaking. These are just some of the attractions which will make the Western Cape a truly unforgettable experience.

Days 1-3, The Western Cape:
Day 1

You will be transferred to one of Cape Town 's top Hotels, namely the Peninsula Hotel. THE PENINSULA , with its matchless style and subtle elegance, is the ultimate in understated Cape hospitality. Ideally situated on Cape Town's Platinum Mile, internationally acclaimed. The Peninsula is home to discerning visitors from around the globe. The reason is simple. Guests enjoy the convenience of being minutes from the excitement and sparkle of Cape Town and close to the world-famous scenic wine routes, beautiful beaches and botanical gardens. More importantly our guests will enjoy superior service.

Day 2
Golf at Arabella. The Arabella golf course has a demanding and exceptional design that offers a challenging experience to all levels of golfers. It puts professional golfers to the test and at the same time is playable for the average hacker. The fairways are wide and spacious. Both fairways and greens are in an exceptionally good condition.
Choosing a signature hole is tough as the 9th, 17th and the 18th all run parallel to the lagoon. As a result, we have chosen the par-three 17th. This hole requires a precise tee shot. If you miss the green to the right, you might find yourself on the beach!

Day 3
Golf at Erinvale, The Erinvale Golf Course in Somerset West was designed by Gary Player and is seen as one of the best courses of the Western Cape province of South Africa . In 1996 it hosted the IGA World Cup of Golf. The course is situated on the former Erinvale Farm at the foot of the Helderberg Mountains . The views are spectacular. One can see beautiful the False Bay and the Hottentots Holland Mountain range in the east. The mountains protect the course from the wind. The first 9 holes lie in a valley and are despite the many bunkers and water hazards quite easy to play. Holes 10 to 18, however, stretch over mountainous terrain and provide considerable challenges. In parts the fairways ascend steeply.

Day 4
Golf at Pearl Valley. Nicklaus has stayed true to his design principles by working closely with nature and has provided a golf course that fits in with the environment. This fairly flat and largely uninterrupted terrain enabled Nicklaus the freedom to develop hole strategies making this a golf course the golfer has to think his/her way around. In its engineering and planning detail, the course is very rare. It is crossed by roads in only three places, and the drainage system allows play to continue just minutes after a severe cloudburst

Days 5 - 10 , The Garden Route
Mountains crowd close to a shoreline dotted with beaches and bays, and vividly colored wild flowers delight the eye. Between Heidelberg & Storms River , the Garden route runs parallel to a coastline featuring lakes, mountains, tall indigenous forests, amber colored rivers and golden beaches.

You will be staying at the  Beacon Island Resort in Plettenberg   Bay . Built on a rocky promontory jutting into the warm Indian Ocean , Beacon Island 's setting remains unsurpassed. Most of the tastefully decorated rooms and suites overlook the sea or lagoon, and have every modern comfort. Beacon Island Hotel has an unrivalled panorama. The majestic Outeniqua Mountains form a theatrical backdrop to the Beacon Island Hotel. Here the sea changes from turquoise to purple and the astonishingly beautiful white beaches stretch into infinity. During your stay on the Garden Route you will be playing golf at Fancourt (The Links Course) and Sparrebosch. You will then be transferred to Port Elizabeth Airport where you will board a domestic flight to Durban in KwaZulu -  Natal . Southern Africa 's golfing Mecca.

The Links at Fancourt, host to the President's Cup in November 2003, presents a unique golfing experience in South Africa . This man-made links course has achieved balance and harmony in terms of length, hazards and shot value. While being a beautiful walking experience the Links is quite possibly the most difficult course in South Africa. Carry more balls than usual and be patient! The Links was never meant to be a low scoring, target golf course.

The signature hole of the Fancourt Links course is the par-four 15th! The hole doglegs left around a dam and your length off the tee will determine how much of the water you want to take on. A good tee shot will leave you about 150m to a green surrounded by water back, left and particularly close to the green on the right. The short par-four 14th (309 meters) also stands out as a classic links course. Negotiate the fairway bunkers and hit a pitch shot to the smallest green on the course framed by towering dunes and thick rough.

The third course you will be playing on the Garden route is the Sparrebosch Golf Estate  and Country Club Imagine living and playing on an award winning golf course surrounded by manicured fairways, rare coastal fynbos and pristine indigenous forest. Picture living between the calm waters of South Africa 's favorite estuary and the expansive Indian Ocean . Can you think of what it would feel like to see pods of whales migrating past your very doorstep?

You've just found one of the most exciting, challenging and visually stunning golf courses in the entire world. This site features 18 spectacular championship holes of golf and 250 hectares of well-planned residential properties and natural fynbos communities. The Scottish "links-style" course, designed by Ronald Fream and David Dale of Golf plan in California , features cool-season grasses and five different tee placements to satisfy,
challenge and reward all golfers.

Days 10 - 14, KwaZulu/Natal
You will be staying at the Umhlanga Sands Hotel  in the resort town of Umhlanga rocks. Known as the French Riviera of the KwaZulu/Natal coast and known as the place to have fun. Enjoy uninterrupted views of the Indian Ocean . This coast line is renowned for it's abundance of Bottlenose Dolphins.

During our stay, you will get to play 3 of this wonderful province's most famous courses, Beachwood, Zimbali and Durban Country Club all rated in South Africa's top 20 courses for 2005.

Beachwood Country Club having recently being upgraded, it is noted particularly for it's narrow, long, straight fairways and many bunkers, lots of trees and bushes severe slopes and in particular that the front nine includes the 10th hole before halfway facilities are reached. This course provides a very good challenge to the handicap, as the fairways are narrow and long, and require precision tee-shots and lay-ups.

Zimbali Country Club features magnificent vistas of the Indian Ocean and is set amongst lakes and wetlands on the Natal Coast . Guests can enjoy high tea in the colonial lounge, served by butlers, and the elevated bar overlooking the 14th fairway is ideal for sundowners and delicious light meals in the balmy sub-tropical air. The Zimbali Forest Estate is nature's own wilderness and home to a wide variety wild life.

No other golf club has hosted the South African Open and other important tournaments as often as Durban Country Club . Many of the holes are positively stunning. The short 12th hole has a steeply raised green and is today called the Prince of Wales hole. The Prince who played here in 1924 needed 17 strokes to complete the hole!
